“A few weeks ago, I was scrolling through Instagram and found a post for a Farm to Table dinner at a small farm in Solvang. I asked Steve if he was interested in going because sometimes my husband is not up for these sorts of group gatherings! But dinner at Full Moon Farms was too tempting to resist. And we always love a trip out to the Santa Ynez valley!
We were the first to arrive at Full Moon Farms. This is very typical of us! They seem to have a couple cottages for rent on the property, but we were going to be dining in the Wisteria Cabin. It used to be a cabin, but the weight of wisteria vines and time have left their mark! It does make for a very gorgeous space for an evening supper. We started off the evening with an extravagant charcuterie board as guests mingled and enjoyed a glass of wine.
There were two beautiful tables set up inside the cabin. There was a group of 12 friends who signed up together so they took one table and we joined 4 other guests at the table in the heart of the cabin. One couple did not show up so we had lots of space and too much food for the six of us!
We signed up for a three course meal, but honestly it felt like a 10 course meal! All the food arrived family style on a platter, with at least 15 minutes in between each course. Every course was outstanding, and we all had to try very hard to not take a heaping spoon full! For example, one course was au gratin potatoes. Imagine 6 people and a full casserole of rich and creamy potatoes. I have never eaten so little au gratin potatoes in my life! That was around course #7, so I had gotten the reality check by then. I had to pace myself during dinner at Full Moon Farms!”
